Call for Submissions: Oldham Poetry Magazine: PLAY
Published by Cultureword and Edited by Ella Otomewo – Release February 2026
Cultureword is thrilled to announce a new poetry magazine dedicated to showcasing the vibrant voices of Oldham! We are putting out a call for submissions from writers across the borough, with the aim of fostering connection, celebrating self-expression, and documenting the rich tapestry of Oldham’s literary talent.
The theme of this issue is PLAY. Think playfulness, creative freedom, childhood wonder, imagination, and joy. We encourage writers to let the theme of PLAY inspire them in new ways.
Are you an existing writer in Oldham? We want to hear from you! This magazine is a fantastic opportunity to connect with a growing community of fellow wordsmiths, share your work, and find new opportunities for collaboration and growth. We believe in the power of shared experience and mutual support within the writing community.
New to creative writing? Always wanted to give it a try? This is your chance! We warmly encourage writers new and old to join us at our Poetry Power Hours – creative writing workshops made to support you in writing your submissions.
Our goal is to document and celebrate the diverse voices and stories within Oldham through the medium of poetry. We hope that the Oldham Poetry Magazine will not only provide a platform for your work but also cultivate a deep sense of pride in the creative spirit of your town.
