We are delighted to launch Saddle Stories, a new audio anthology capturing Mancunians’ experiences of cycling.
This summer Cultureword held a series of workshops, at Station South Café in Levenshulme, for Mancunians to ride, chat about cycling and write about their relationship with bikes. From this came a lively Open Mic night and a call-out for creative writing pieces.
This new audio anthology brings together these pieces, capturing the nostalgia and sense of possibility evoked by cycling. Saddle Stories is a reminder of the bike’s universality and the freedom that 2 wheels can bring.

Featured pieces:
- Take a wild ride down memory lane with memoir writing from Elaine Okoro, Souravi Sarkar, David Edwards and Tanya Shah.
- Pedal through new poetry by Amy Lai, Anna Walsh, Clare Ramsaran and Emma Roy-Williams
- Enjoy a vivid sensory journey with Eileen Pun‘s La Bicicletà è Femminile / The Bicycle is Feminine
The collection is available for you to listen to across all platforms – just search for ‘Saddle Stories’ in the podcast section 🚲
