How do we change as individuals and as a society when we merge – with each other, with technology, with nature? What could the outcome be of our increased interdependence on technology (positive or negative)? How are identities shifted when boundaries are dissolved?
We’re looking for 6 North-West based digital storytelling partnerships (each comprised of 1 writer and 1 digital artist) to explore these questions in a co-created original piece of creative work.
Forms you could work in include, but are not limited to: gaming, animation, film, narrative-based websites or social media pages, apps, audio fiction, transmedia storytelling.
Successful partnerships will be awarded £800 (£400 per creative) to develop their idea. Final pieces will be displayed during Cultureword’s Creative Lock-In (27th November 2026)
How to Apply
Applications are now open to pitch your digital storytelling collaboration.
Pitches should include:
- A clearly articulated idea for a piece of digital literature. You may not know yet how the idea will be realised but we are looking for a strong vision. Your pitch can be written or recorded (audio/video). It should be no more than 250 words or 1 minute 30 seconds in length
- A brief CV from both the writer and digital artist. If you are yet to find a collaborator we still encourage you to submit as we can ‘matchmake’ if seems fit.
++ Cultureword’s Creative Mixer on Friday 18th September is a great opportunity to meet a potential collaborator!
Send in your pitch via this Google Form by Wednesday 7th October 2026, 5pm. If you have any questions or access needs please email ella@cultureword.org.uk
How the Project will Work
We will respond to all applicants by Tuesday 13th October with a decision. Accepted partnerships will then have 1 month to collaborate on their project. You may choose to meet virtually or in-person. Final pieces will be due mid-November. The Cultureword team will be available for any support needs throughout the project.
