After many years of dedicated work Cultureword’s valued CEO Pete Kalu will sadly be leaving .
We are therefore seeking an inspiring and values-driven Chief Executive to lead the organisation into its next phase. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive will provide strategic leadership, ensure the delivery of high-quality creative writing programmes, and champion equity, community engagement, and artistic excellence.
Salary: £45,000–£50,000 per annum
Contract: Fixed-term, 2 years with possibility of renewal,
35 hours per week
Location: Central Manchester (minimum two days per week office-based)

Key Responsibilities
- Lead organisational strategy in partnership with the Board
- Ensure strong governance, financial sustainability, and legal compliance
- Oversee delivery of Arts Council England NPO and other funded programmes
- Lead fundraising, partnerships, and funder reporting
- Provide leadership and line management across staff and freelancers
- Act as an ambassador for creative writing and socially engaged practice
About You
You will be an experienced senior leader from the arts or not-for-profit sector with strong people skills, a track record of fundraising and programme delivery, and a commitment to community engagement, equity, and inclusive leadership.
